Oral Cancer Screening
Children’s Dentistry of North Dallas now offers enhanced oral cancer screenings
Every aspect of your child’s oral health is important to us, and we want to do all we can to ensure that his or her smiles last a lifetime. In addition to taking care of teeth, we also check for other health issues in patients’ mouths.
Our pediatric dentists have taken a stand against oral cancer and have joined forces with Forward Science. We are a member of the ID For Life™ Program to promote early detection and public awareness of oral cancer. We use the OralID fluorescence technology and offer enhanced oral cancer screenings for all our patients.
This advanced screening device works to discover oral cancer in its earliest stages. Currently, up to 70% of oral cancers are found in late stages, which can result in a five-year survival rate of less than 50%.
OralID has the ability to “highlight” these abnormalities in much earlier stages before it is actually visible to the eye alone, in turn increasing the five-year survival rate up to between 80% and 90%.
