Pediatric Dentistry in Dallas, TX
As specialists in pediatric dentistry, our doctors at Children’s Dentistry of North Dallas understand the lifelong implications that a positive dental experience can have on a child. We practice the “tell-show-do” method of dentistry, using child-friendly terms and explaining everything we do so there are no surprises.
With two age-appropriate offices catering to the needs of “littles” and “bigs,” your child will feel comfortable and safe, and may even have a little fun!
When to Visit the Dentist
Following American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry guidelines, we recommend that your child visit our Dallas pediatric dental office when either the first tooth appears or by their first birthday. During these early visits, your child will get to know our doctors and team, and start to feel at home in the dental setting. We’ll look for any signs of early problems with your baby’s oral heath, and provide information about the best way to care for your little one’s teeth at home.
While prevention is always the best medicine, if your child does develop a dental issue, we provide comprehensive restorative dentistry, including fillings, Silver Diamine Fluoride, and primary tooth root canals to get them back on the path to great oral health. We also offer frenectomy treatment for tongue-tie, as well as hospital-based dentistry for those who need a little extra TLC.
Home Care
When your baby’s first tooth arrives, wipe or gently brush the teeth as they appear in the mouth. Toddlers can use training toothpaste (without fluoride). When your child is able to spit correctly, they may start using kid’s toothpaste with fluoride.
Brushing twice a day greatly lowers the risk of your child developing cavities. Once they are old enough to hold a toothbrush, let your child brush a bit on their own, and take a turn as well to ensure all teeth are brushed correctly.
