Meet Dr. W. Preston Colven
Hello, I’m Dr. Preston Colven! I grew up in North Carolina, where I earned both my Bachelor of Arts and Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While in dental school, my passion for treating children was stirred through participation in a variety of activities that served the local and global communities, including annual Give Kids a Smile events and a service trip to Uganda.
After eight years in Chapel Hill (and one NCAA National Championship, Go Heels!), I moved to Columbus to complete my residency in pediatric dentistry at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. I earned my certificate in pediatric dentistry and Master of Science from Ohio State in June 2019.
During residency, I had the opportunity to train with many world-renowned leaders in the field of pediatric dentistry, and received extensive training focused on the treatment of infants, children, adolescents, and children with disabilities who have special healthcare needs. My goal is to provide every child I meet with kind and compassionate care while making dentistry a fun and positive experience for life.
I am an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Greater Dallas Pediatric Dental Society, and Dallas County Dental Society. I am currently pursuing board certification with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
I am very excited to make Dallas my home! I look forward to exploring the new adventures and activities the city has to offer. Outside of work, I love spending time with my new Golden Retriever puppy, Moira. She is so sweet and can be a little bit of a troublemaker, but watching her grow has been so fun! I also enjoy exploring new restaurants, playing tennis, walking on the Katy Trail, exercising, and traveling to new places.
