Our Pediatric Dentistry Services
Regular dental cleanings and oral health checkups are essential for maintaining strong, healthy teeth and catching potential issues before they become major concerns. At Children’s Dentistry of North Dallas, we provide thorough routine cleanings and diagnostic checkups to remove plaque buildup, check for cavities, and ensure proper oral development. Our friendly team takes the time to address any questions or concerns you or your child may have about their dental health, hygiene habits, or treatment options. By scheduling regular visits, we can help prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and other dental issues while keeping your child’s smile bright and healthy for years to come.
Many people don’t think about oral cancer screenings until adulthood or when symptoms appear, but early detection is key to successful treatment. At Children’s Dentistry of North Dallas, we believe in taking a proactive approach, which is why we recommend routine, non-invasive oral cancer screenings for children as part of their regular dental checkups. These quick and painless screenings allow us to detect any unusual changes in the mouth, gums, or throat at an early stage. By identifying potential concerns early, we can ensure prompt treatment if needed, helping to protect your child’s long-term oral and overall health.
Respiratory sleep restriction disorders can significantly impact your child’s sleep quality, daytime energy, and overall health. Poor sleep can lead to issues such as difficulty concentrating, behavioral challenges, and delayed growth. At our practice, we evaluate and help manage a variety of sleep disorders, including obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, and sleep-related hypoventilation or hypoxemia. These conditions can affect breathing patterns during sleep, leading to disrupted rest and potential health concerns. Our team works closely with families to identify symptoms, recommend appropriate treatments, and ensure your child gets the restful, healthy sleep they need to thrive.
Oral digital X-rays play a crucial role in diagnosing and monitoring your child’s dental health by providing detailed, high-resolution images of their teeth, gums, and jaw. Children’s Dentistry of North Dallas utilizes advanced digital X-ray technology to capture comprehensive and panoramic images, allowing us to detect cavities, monitor tooth development, and identify any hidden dental concerns with precision and accuracy. Digital X-rays are safer than traditional X-ray methods, using significantly less radiation while delivering faster results. With this advanced technology, we can create personalized treatment plans and ensure your child’s smile stays healthy and strong as they grow.
Fluoride is essential for maintaining strong, healthy teeth and plays a key role in preventing and even reversing early tooth decay. By strengthening enamel and reducing the risk of cavities, fluoride treatments in North Dallas help protect your child’s smile from harmful oral bacteria and acid erosion. We recommend regular fluoride treatments after each dental cleaning to provide an extra layer of defense against decay. These quick and painless treatments are especially beneficial for children who may be more prone to cavities. With consistent fluoride application, we help ensure long-lasting oral health and cavity prevention for your child.
Similar to fluoride treatments, North Dallas dental sealants provide an extra layer of protection against cavities and decay, especially on the hard-to-reach back teeth where food and bacteria tend to collect. These thin, protective coatings are applied to the molars, sealing out plaque and bacteria to help prevent tooth decay before it starts.Children’s Dentistry of North Dallas recommends regular sealant applications as part of your child’s preventive dental care routine to keep their teeth strong, healthy, and cavity-free. This quick and painless procedure is a simple yet highly effective way to ensure long-term oral health and protection.
Children’s Dentistry of North Dallas offers custom-fit mouthguards designed to protect your child’s teeth from damage caused by bruxism (teeth grinding) or sports-related injuries. Whether your child grinds their teeth at night, which can lead to enamel wear and jaw discomfort, or participates in high-impact sports, a well-fitted mouthguard provides essential protection. Unlike store-bought options, our professionally crafted mouthguards offer a comfortable, secure fit, ensuring maximum effectiveness. By using a custom mouthguard, your child can sleep more comfortably, prevent dental injuries, and maintain a healthy, pain-free smile for years to come.
Dealing with dental emergencies can be scary; however, our practice is equipped to treat your child’s dental emergency, usually same day. We treat the following dental emergencies:
- Dental Abscesses
- Bitten Lips or Tongues
- Objects Caught in Teeth
- Broken/Chipped/Fractured Tooth
- Knocked-Out Teeth
- Loose Tooth
- Toothache
However, if you suspect a severe jaw injury or experience any extensive or uncontrollable oral bleeding, please go to the nearest emergency room.
patient Reviews
Our daughter loves going to Children’s Dentistry! They have great, knowledgeable staff. Dr. Holly is wonderful and Dr. Rei as well. They know how to tend to your child’s needs and get them comfortable for every cleaning or procedure that needs to be done. We just moved, but even though they are far, we still go to them. That should say a lot. Heck, my wife and I wished we could even be their patients. That is how good they are. I highly recommend them if you have a child with dental needs. They deserve more than five stars. Ten-plus!
- Adwin T.This is the best pediatric dentistry in Dallas, hands down! The staff is incredibly caring and patient! I have a child with sensory issues who can be difficult and they do so well with getting her to cooperate and helping her through the process. I cannot speak highly enough of this entire team!
- Danae H.Dr. Colven is the kindest most gentle dentist I have ever encountered. He put both my tiny humans at ease and talked with them through the entire appointments. My tiny humans have autism and sensory processing and I would recommend Dr. Colven to any parent looking for a dentist who understands the special needs and delicate hand needed for helping our kiddos through what could be a traumatic experience. The whole practice is amazing and I love the staff.
- Tracy M.We can’t say enough positive things about CDND and Dr. Holly! We have been extra impressed with and appreciative of the COVID precautions they’re taking to keep everyone safe, while continuing to provide great care to our 3 kids, who have all recently been for both regular cleanings and/or extra procedures. Our kids do not fear going to the dentist one bit!
- Avery P.Best pediatric dentist in Texas! Dr. Rei Iwase is the best. She is so cheerful and good with kids, as well as being respectful of our family’s specific health concerns and how that affects our dental treatment. Could not ask for a better dentist for my kids!
- Megan K.We LOVE Dr. Holly. She is amazing and her staff is fantastic. The ONLY thing that’s hard is that everyone else loves her so much that it’s almost impossible to get an appointment in a timely manner. I had to reschedule an appointment three weeks out and ended up having to wait two months for the next opening. I would never stop seeing her because of that…. She just needs to clone herself so there’s enough of her to go around!
